The Xtramile Tours · Playa del Carmen
A private van takes your group to Coba early for a bike ride through the ruins, a swim in the Tamcach-Ha and Choo-Ha cave cenotes, a lakeside lunch, then a boat along the Tulum coast to see the ruins from the sea and snorkel the reef. It's the one day here that mixes Coba with the Caribbean.

The Xtramile Tours built this day around avoiding crowds. The van picks you up early, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, so you reach Coba close to opening time. You get about an hour and a half there on bikes (a tricycle taxi, the "Mayan limousine", is the alternative), which covers the main groups and leaves time for Nohoch Mul, reopened on 7 December 2025 on a wooden staircase.
Next come two cave cenotes a few kilometres from the ruins, Tamcach-Ha and Choo-Ha. Guests report two jumping platforms there, at about 25 and 35 feet. Lunch is a buffet by the lagoon at Coba. In the afternoon you drive back to the coast for the part no other Coba tour has: a boat ride along Tulum's shore, under the cliff of El Castillo, then out to the reef to snorkel, where guests report turtles.
It's private and priced per person, from $280 with a minimum of four adults, so it works best for families and groups of friends. Local taxes, the bikes, snorkel gear and lunch are in the price; sodas and alcohol are not. The listing has 85 reviews, all five stars. Confirmation can take up to 48 hours.

★★★★★We had a pleasant short walk to the Coba site and we got early access so it was not so hot and not crowded. [...] When we went snorkeling we saw a lot of turtles, which was such a treat.
★★★★★After lunch and some time to shop we went to a local cenote to swim in the cool crystal clear fresh water in side the cave. For the adventurous there are two dive platforms one at 25 feet and another at 35 feet!! [...] Once we left there we went to Tulum where we were taken by boat to view the ruins of Tulum by water which is a totally different perspective than seeing from land which we have done.
